Step Back in Time and Get a Shine

The Natty Dresser's shoe shine stand harkens back to the days when every gent would stop by the local shoe shine parlour and get his shoes cleaned and polished.

It is our desire to pay homage to the Deluxe Shoe Shine Parlour that Bessie and Rufus Hale had at the Venetian Theater building in Downtown Albany from 1939 until Bessie's death in 1993.

Our stand has an actual 1930s club chair, and authentic horse shaped cast iron foot rests. The old-growth flooring came out of a Lebanon area farm house and the carpeting on the stair treads came out of a house here in Albany. The stand itself was built from reclaimed beadboard that also came out of an Albany area home.

The purpose of shining your shoes is more than aesthetic, the wax used to create the shine is a waterproof barrier protecting the leather from the elements. You will find that you feel better about yourself and your overall appearance when your shoes are clean and polished.
